This training event will cover aspects of Data processing and Chemometrics.

In the data processing portion, we will cover practical aspects of Fourier Transforms, multi-linear regression, iterative fitting of equations to data sets, and over-determined systems and the pseudo-inverse.

The chemometric portion will cover principal components (PCA) and partial least squares (PLS) using Minitab.


Please note: when you register for this event your initial registration will show as “Not Approved”. You will be sent an email once we have approved your registration.

The Event is free to Chemists from MERCIA universities.

To demonstrate that you are from a MERCIA university you must enter a valid e-mail from one of the Universities in the grouping.

The event may be made available to people outside MERCIA for a nominal fee, but this will be announced later.



Getting to NTU Clifton Campus


Clifton is about five miles from Nottingham city centre. The closest motorway junction is junction 24 on the M1. If you are using a sat nav to find us, the campus postcode is NG11 8NS, or you can get directions to NTU here.

From junction 24 follow the A453 for seven miles to the Clifton campus.

If you are travelling from the east follow the A52 and signs to Nottingham, then join the A453, signposted ‘M1 South’. The Clifton entrance will be on your right hand side.

Parking is available at Clifton campus for visitors.

Rail and Bus:

Nottingham railway station is about five miles from Clifton campus. A taxi from the station will cost around £10, and there is taxi rank right outside the station entrance.

If you have sufficient time, the number 1, bus stops outside the campus.

Ticket from Nottingham trainstation cost £2.20 for a single tip or £4.00 for a day’s pass.

This bus also goes to/from Loughborough (Day Return £6.50).
